Film and Television Criticism in Books!
Academic scholarship for television and film is frequently published in books in addition to journals. You may find books that engage in research about a a single film or television show. However, there is also extensive information in books about the director, stars, films of an era, or films in a particular genre. Use the Library Catalog to search for books, looking under the film or show title, the director or other key players as subjects. For film, you might also use the term "Motion Pictures" with various subdivisions such as History, names of nations, etc. and specific genres (film noir, western films, science fiction films, etc). For television, you might try a subject search that begins with "Television" or "Video," or try phrases like, "violence on television" or "comedy programs" (which is used instead of situation comedies).
