Comic Arts Research Guide

The library has a rapidly growing collection of comics. In our circulating collection, you’ll find secondary research resources about comics and some graphic novels. We also have a large Golden Age of Anime available in our Media Center. We have approximately 40,000 floppy comics in Special Collections and University Archives! While the comics in Special Collections don’t circulate, we are working hard to organize them and make them accessible for your use. See our tab "Support Comics @ SDSU" to learn how you can help make the collection available for use sooner!

We encourage comics-related research and welcome opportunities to help you access the materials you need. Please take a look at the links on this guide and feel free to ask us for more help!

NEW! Comics by Topic

Check out our new resource, Comics by Topic. Created by Librarian, Pamela Jackson, this guide organizes selected comics by themes and topics that may be of most use in the higher education curriculum. It is intended to give student researchers and faculty a starting point to explore how topics covered in the classroom are represented in sequential art.
