Gracia Molina de Pick Papers, 1902-2019 The Gracia Molina de Pick Papers (1902-2013) document the personal, professional, and activist background of Molina de Pick and include: reports, correspondence, promotional materials, organizational records, conference materials, legal documents, teaching materials, press clippings, photographs, original artwork, and ephemera. The collection is divided into eight series, all organized alphabetically: Biographical, Writings, Correspondence, Education Materials, Women’s Rights, Activism and Political Involvement, Buttons and Name Badges, and Art and Posters.
Maria Nieto Senour Papers, 1943-2014 The Maria Nieto Senour Papers (1943-2014) document Senour’s work at San Diego State University and in the San Diego community. The collection includes reports, correspondence, conference papers, awards, university personnel files, election campaign papers, press clippings and articles. All materials are organized alphabetically within three series: Biographical, Professional, and Collected Research.
Armando M. Rodriguez Papers, 1940-2010 The Armando Miguel Rodriguez Papers (1940-2010) document Rodriguez’s work as an educator and advocate for bilingual education. The majority of the material dates from the early 1970s through 1980s, with very sparse documentation during the 1960s. These files illustrate Rodriguez’s work to promote higher education for bilingual children. The collection includes conference speeches, correspondence, reports, articles, news clippings, and audio file interviews. The collection is composed of five series: Personal Files (1940-2010), Professional Files (1958-1999), Book Manuscript (2008), Achievement Files (1969-1982), and Photographs and Scrapbooks (1952-2008).
Marta Sánchez Papers, 1953-2013 The Marta Sánchez Papers (1953-2013) document the professional career of Dr. Sánchez and include materials created during her tenure as a professor at the University of California, San Diego. The bulk of the collection dates from 1985-2010. Materials include lecture notes, syllabi, student work, journal articles, correspondence, press clippings, book pre-publication drafts, and conference papers. The collection is divided into four series: Academic Files, Book Pre-Publication Drafts, Research and Writings, and Conference Papers.
Richard Griswold del Castillo Papers, 1971-2009 The Richard Griswold del Castillo Papers (1971-2009) document Griswold’s work in the San Diego State University Department of Chicana and Chicano Studies and his involvement in the Chicano Movement. Highlights include rare film footage of various events in San Diego’s Chicano history since the 1960s, such as the Chicano Park takeover. Also included are tape cassettes and transcripts from a Chicano History Research Project, a CD-ROM containing Chicana and Chicano Studies Department archives, and materials from La Raza Forum. Filed alphabetically, the collection consists of course materials, newsletters, and organizational files
Rita Sanchez Papers, 1972-2013 The Rita Sanchez Papers (1972-2013) document Sanchez's work while teaching at Mesa Community College and her influence on the Chicano Studies Department there, as well as work done in the San Diego community. The majority of the material dates from 1990-2000 and focuses on student activities and campus events. The collection is divided into two series: Professional Papers and Photographs. Filed alphabetically, the collection consists of correspondence, teaching supplements, newspaper clippings, photographs and video recordings.
Leonard Fierro Papers, 1927-1995 The Leonard Fierro Papers (1927-1995) document Fierro's work as an educator, activist and advocate for bilingual education. The majority of the material dates from the early 1960's through 1970's, with very sparse documentation of the 1950's. These files illustrate Fierro's development of bilingual education teaching materials for San Diego County. His papers include reports, correspondence, teaching supplements, newspaper clippings, and audio cassettes. Highlights include materials relating to the efforts of the National Origin Desegregation Assistance Center (NODAC or Lau Center) in the Institute for Cultural Pluralism and personal correspondence during his military service through WWII. The collection consists of four series: Professional Files (1964-1992), Personal Files (1935-1995), News Clippings (1950's-1995), and Book Project Files (1927-1995).
Association of Chicana Activists (AChA) Records, 1993-2011 The Association of Chicana Activists (AChA) Records document the history of AChA at SDSU. Highlights include a copy of the 1993 newsletter for the organization's first annual high school conference, as well as original transparencies and positives of AChA's logo. The records highlight the group's formation, high school conferences and other events and activities. The collection is filed chronologically with the majority of the materials dating from the early 1990s. The records consist of albums, scrapbooks, newsletters, transparencies, and photographs.
Maria Garcia Papers, 1968-1997 The Maria Garcia Papers (1968-1997) document the establishment of the Chicano Federation of San Diego County and Garcia's work in education. Of particular interest are early Chicano Federation records, including Federation newsletters and documents relating to the Federation's Leadership Training Program. In addition, the collection contains an extensive collection of Chicano newspapers and newsletters dating from 1968 to 1977, including La Verdad and La Voz del Pueblo. Filed alphabetically, the collection consists of correspondence, meeting minutes, conference papers, newsletters, and newspapers. The majority of materials date from 1968 to 1980.
Rene Nuñez Memorial Collection, 1968-2008 The Rene Nuñez Memorial Collection, assembled after Nuñez's death, documents his work in promoting educational equity and parent involvement, and his help in founding the Chicano Studies Department at SDSU. Filed alphabetically, the collection includes educational treatises, academic papers, newspaper clippings, correspondence, and materials relating to Nuñez's memorial service at San Diego State University. The collection dates from 1968 to 2008.
Arturo Casares Papers, 1968-2008 The Arturo Casares Papers (1968-2008) document the establishment of the Barrio Station in San Diego and Casares' involvement in the Chicano Movement. Highlights include photographs of the UFW grape strike and the Chicano Moratorium, Casares' English class journal with entries discussing the formation of a Mexican-American Studies program at San Diego State College, old Barrio Station Newsletters, and documents regarding the Chicano Park Incident in which police arrested Casares. Filed alphabetically, the collection consists of correspondence, course papers, newsletters, and photographs. The majority of materials date from 1968 to 1975.
Enriqueta Chavez Papers, 1955-2000 The Enriqueta Chavez Papers (1955-2000) document Chavez's work as a student activist, educator, counselor, and advocate for bilingual education. Highlights include materials relating to the Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano de Aztlán's (MEChA) role in the operation and administration of the Mexican-American Studies Department. The majority of material dates from the mid 1960s to the early 1970s and primarily details Chavez's affiliation with MEChA, her tenure as a lecturer in the Mexican-American Studies Department, and her early activism. Her papers include correspondence, syllabi, articles, course files, handouts, newspapers, conference material, and reports. The collection is divided into three series: the Groups and Organizations Files (1965-2000), Education Files (1962-1980), and Publications (1955-1980).
Sylvia A. Cramer Papers, 1970-2009 The Sylvia A. Cramer Collection (1970-2009) documents Cramer's support of the Chicano movement while at SDSU. Of particular interest are notes from a study group of faculty and students who met to discuss Chicano and Chicana issues at the university. Also included are posters supporting United Farm Worker causes; documentation of an initiative against Proposition 13, a referendum that limited property taxation; and the Bakke decision, in which the US Supreme Court determined that fixed quotas for minority student enrollment was unconstitutional in 1978. The majority of the material dates from 1970 to 1976 and focuses on activities supporting the Chicano Movement. Filed alphabetically, the collection consists of flyers, newspapers, one DVD, posters, notes, and articles.
Howard Hollman Newspaper Collection, 1965-2000 The Howard Hollman Newspaper Collection (1965-2000) documents the Chicano Movement and Hollman's activism in San Diego. Of particular interest are local newspapers such as La Verdad, La Raza, Inside the Beast, and Good Morning Teaspoon. The majority of the material dates from 1965-1975 and focuses primarily on the issues Chicanos faced during the movement. Filed alphabetically by publication title, the collection includes newspapers, newsprint, and magazines.
Carlotta Hernandez Terry Collection, 1951-2006 The Carlotta Hernandez Terry Collection (1951-2006) documents Hernandez's accomplishments as a singer-songwriter and painter. Of particular interest are transcripts of the songs written by the artist as well as pieces of her artwork. Also included are photographs of Hernandez's musical performances and paintings, including the Tierra Mia mural at Chicano Park. The majority of the material dates from 1970-1980 and focuses on her artistic achievements. Filed alphabetically, the collection consists of photographs, correspondence, news articles, flyers and video recordings.
Chicano Federation of San Diego County Records,1968-1980 The Chicano Federation of San Diego County Records (1968-1990) document the activities of the Chicano Federation during the 1970s. Highlights include meeting minutes dealing with the Federation's involvement with Chicano Park and the Federation's expansion of services, particularly in affordable housing. The collection primarily consists of meeting minutes, which discuss Federation policies, services, reports, social conditions, education, health, and politics; however articles of incorporation and by-laws are included in the collection as well. The collection is filed alphabetically with meeting minutes arranged chronologically. The majority of materials date from 1973 to 1978.
Chicana and Chicano Studies Department Records, 1968-2003 The Chicana and Chicano Studies Department Records (1968-2003) document the development and administration of the department and its curriculum. Highlights include materials relating to the department's incorporation into the College of Professional Studies and the resulting backlash from students. The majority of the material dates from the 1970s and details early department organization and curricula. The collection includes correspondence, syllabi, memorandums, course files, faculty meeting minutes, and reports. The collection is filed alphabetically.
MANA of San Diego County Records, 1986-2002 The MANA of San Diego County Records document the operation and administration of MANA during Olivia Puentes-Reynolds’ involvement in the organization. The collection provides extensive documentation for MANA's work promoting educational achievement and increasing Latino representation at the local, state, and national levels. Records in the collection regarding the Hermanitas program, Sylvia Chavez Memorial Scholarship, Platica lecture series, and Political Committee highlight these endeavors. The collection dates from 1986 to 2002 with the majority of materials dating from 1994 to 1999. The collection includes correspondence, meeting minutes, brochures, news clippings, flyers, conference materials, and committee files. The collection is divided into three series: Administrative Files (1986-2002), the Brindis Files (1994-2002), and Conference Files (1993-1999).

Carmen Sandoval Fernandez Poster Collection (SDSU digital) The collection contains 62 poster, broadsides, and advertisements related to the Chicano movement. The materials are from the early 1970s through the 1980s.
