Books are indexed in our catalog using Library of Congress subject headings. This is a controlled vocabulary system that allows books on similar topics to be grouped together.
Often, you will find a few more books on your topic simply by going to find ONE book you have the call number for. This is called serendipitous discovery and is why browsing the shelves can be very useful when doing research.
SDSU's special Health Diversity Award collection was purchased with two Collection Equity and Outreach Awards from the Network of the National Library of Medicine Region 5. Books in this collection reflect health and wellness topics, specifically in underrepresented populations. It includes fiction, nonfiction, memoirs, and poetry representing diverse people, illnesses, and other health related concerns.
You might also be interested in our Comics, Comix, and Graphic Novels and Social Justice collections.
The library catalog is a record of everything we own or have access to. You can search it by keyword, title, author, or subject.
