What is a SWOT Analysis?

A SWOT analysis is a framework for analyzing a company and its competitive strategy, and SWOT stands for strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Analyzing these factors can help a company understand how to defend itself from external threats as well as improve its own internal strategies.

Where to Find SWOTs

ABI/INFORM
1. Write "swot" in the top search bar, write the name of your company in the search bar that says "Company/organization," and press search.
2. Select "Reports" from the search bar options on the left hand side.
Business Insights: Global
1. This database includes around 1,000 SWOT reports from Global Markets Direct. You can see the A-Z list of these SWOT reports by clicking the SWOT reports link in the box on the bottom left hand side of the home page or by selecting SWOT reports from the drop down options in the Companies tab.
2. Once you are in the SWOT reports list, you can also keyword search for a particular company using the "Search Within Results" box on the top left hand side of the page
Business Source Premier
1. Put the name of your company in the search bar, and choose "Company Entity" from the drop down options.
2. In the results page, refine the search on the left. Under the "Publication Type" section, select "SWOT Analysis."

NOTE: Not all companies will have a SWOT Analysis. Try all of the databases listed above.
