This Research Guide was created to provide specific resources to the PSFA 305W White Paper/ Grant Proposal assignments. The resources selected allow the researchers in this class to navigate information on thousands of different topics. It can be used as a topic development tool. If you do not know the subject of your research topic, inspect the data and information currently available to see what may be of interest to you. Select a topic that has enough information for you to complete your assignment.
White papers and grant proposals both use data to persuade the reader to accept their messages; they therefore require research and citation. They also tend to be at least several pages long and are written in a formal style, so they take longer to write than shorter or less formal documents. Both white papers and grant proposals are common in many of the fields that Professional Studies & Fine Arts (PSFA) majors tend go into for their careers.
The guide was developed for students and faculty engaged in communication and health communication research. It includes recommended resources and tips to help you succeed. Use the tabs on the left to navigate to the this guide. Each tab will include a link to the database, tips on navigating the database, and additional information on the sources of data. It can be difficulty finding resources in citing databases. The last tab provides guides for citing your sources.
