In celebration of Women’s History Month, we explored the National Women’s History Alliance theme, “Moving Forward Together! Women Educating & Inspiring Generations.” This theme highlights the essential contributions of women as educators, mentors, and leaders who have influenced history and continue to inspire future generations.
This display highlights the achievements and contributions of women from diverse backgrounds—trailblazers who have broken barriers, uplifted communities, and left a lasting impact, particularly in education. If you're looking for inspiration, look no further than the memoir of SDSU's very own Carol Rowell Council, who at the age of 21 co-founded the Ad Hoc Committee for Women's Studies at San Diego State University which then became the first Women's Studies program in the United States, indeed in the world. In her book When Women Ask the Questions, former Dean Marilyn Boxer provides historical context to the development of women's studies.
