Nursing

A collection of resources and helpful tips to get you started with your research

What the Library Can Do for You

I can give instruction to your class or labs on choosing a research topic, forming PICO questions, searching health sciences databases, refining results, and expert searching. I recommend allowing at least 50 minutes to cover two-three topics (such as using one or two databases and searching using PICO questions). Email me to find a time that works for you.

I can also set up course-specific resource guides so students know where they should be getting their information.

Electronic Resources

SDSU has many platforms for eBooks, all with an unlimited user access option. Please consider these when looking for a textbook or supplemental texts. We can help get links for Canvas if you have any problems.

We have existing resources that have evidence based practice guides and care sheets. Please use these so students don't have to pay for additional resources.

Free and Low-Cost Course Materials

Another option is open access materials. Below are several databases that we have access to with nursing OER materials.

One of our librarians has also created a guide to OER for faculty:

Faculty Copies and Representative Information

You can get desk copies directly from the publishers. The bookstore has information for publisher representatives that can help you choose a textbook.
