Epocrates Rx
One of the most widely used PDA drug databases. The free version has pill pictures and a unique easy to use pill identification program. There is a dose calculator, selected formulary lists and a robust drug-drug interaction checker. There are over-the-counter (OTC) medications included but herbals are only in the paid subscription version. Drugs can be listed by generic or trade name or by class. Formularies can be selected online and downloaded to your personal device. It is available for all platforms
Medscape Mobile
A combination medical reference and drug database with over 7,000 prescription, over-the –counter, and herbal drugs. There is a robust drug-drug interaction checker supporting multiple entries. The drugs are listed by class and there is dosing interaction, side effect, pharmacology and cost information. There is no automatic drug dosing calculator or formulary information. It is available for iPhone/iTouch /iPad Android and Blackberry platforms.
Micromedex Drug Information
An extensive drug database with detailed information including Pharmacokinetics, monitoring, toxicology and clinical teaching pearls. There is no dosing calculator, formulary information or drug-drug interaction checker. This is currently only available for iOS with an Android version in the works.
Monthly Prescribing Reference
Has over 4,000 drug monographs. The drugs are organized by body systems. Drug information is limited for fast look-ups. There is a search tool, and some medical equations but no dose calculator, formulary information or drug-drug interaction checker. It is available for all platforms.
Shots Immunization Schedule
a graphical flowchart of the recommended immunization schedule from birth to adulthood. There are catch up plans and details about each vaccine and combinations. This is freely available for most platforms.
