EndNote: Getting Started

Brief introductions on how to install and get started using the various EndNote versions

What is EndNote?

EndNote is a citation management software that allows you to collect, organize, store, share and format references that you discover and collect during your research. The product comes in three variations that all work together:

  • EndNote Online (Cloud)
  • EndNote X8 (Desktop)
  • EndNote App (iPad)

Many of the most useful, basic features can be used with just an EndNote Online account. This account will sync to your desktop and iPad installations to ensure your personal library of citations is always kept current.

How do I get EndNote?

  • Undergraduates: Download from the Hardware/Software webpage and seek installation assistance from the Computing Hub Desk if needed
  • Graduates & Faculty: Contact the ETCS Help Desk for download and installation help

EndNote for iPad

  • Search Apple iTunes App Store for EndNote
  • ​Download and install
