After importing bib records into Alma, we need to update the holding information with OCLC. There are two easy ways to do that:
To batch update holdings in OCLC Connexion, we need a list of OCLC numbers of the portfolios we have in the collection. If you have the records/ MARC record
- Export 035a to a txt file
- Download the .py file from GitHub
- Save this .py file in the same directory as the .mrc file
- Open the terminal and navigate to the directory of the .py and .mrc file
- Type 'python For_ Connexion_OCLC_Number.py <the name of the .mrc file>'
- Hit return. There will be a file named 'connexion_oclc035a.txt' in the same directory that contains all the OCLC number.
- Batch update holding information on Connexion
- Open and log into the OCLC Connexion
- Click Batch > Holdings by OCLC Number
- Click Browse to find and select the 'connexion_oclc035a.txt', click import and select update holdings
- Click OK
